Oblique aerial photographs are typically taken at an angle to the horizon.  This is the most common form of cosmetic aerial photography.  While capturing the subject in the foreground, this technique also displays significant surroundings.  Oblique aerial photography is a great marketing aid for commercial development as well as real estate.  It shows the relation of subject property to roadways, waterways developments and structures.  It can also be used to document construction progress.

Near vertical aerials are taken looking nearly straight down and capture the subject from almost directly overhead.  These are useful for documenting property and boundary lines as well as documenting accident sites.
